Apple is reportedly partnering with Google to use its Gemini artificial intelligence model for a major Siri revamp, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The collaboration would make Gemini the underlying AI system for Apple’s upgraded voice assistant and a new AI-powered web search feature.
Earlier this year, Apple reportedly compared models from Anthropic and Google, finding Claude superior in capability but choosing Gemini for financial reasons. The companies are said to be developing a custom Gemini model to run on Apple’s private cloud servers.
The redesigned Siri, first previewed at WWDC 2024, is expected to launch in March 2026 alongside new smart home devices. Apple is also preparing broader AI updates with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 next year.
